Lacson: Querubin a ‘good choice’ as anti-crime czar
Retired Marine Colonel Ariel Querubin would be a “good choice” and an “asset” for Senator Grace Poe or any presidential bets who would get elected in May, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said on Monday.
This, after Poe disclosed during Sunday’s second presidential debate in Cebu that she would appoint Querubin as anti-crime czar if she gets elected in May.
“He (Querubin) should be a good choice and definitely an asset for Senator Poe or anyone among our presidential candidates,” Lacson said in a text message when sought for a reaction.
“While he used to be with the Philippine Marines and therefore may lack the necessary law enforcement expertise to take on an anti-crime job, I’ve known him to be a fine officer who can easily learn the ropes of a sensitive position like an anti-crime czar,” he further said.
Vice presidential aspirant and Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV also welcomed Querubin’s possible appointment as anti-crime czar.
