2 suicides at Manila hospitals reported
MANILA — Two hospitals in Manila reported separate suicides over the weekend.
The latest suicide happened Sunday afternoon at the Chinese General Hospital. Senior Inspector Rommel Anicete, head of the Manila Police District homicide division, identified the man as Fausto Kiok, 80. He was identified through his senior citizen card, Anicete added.
Kiok reportedly jumped off from the sixth floor of the hospital’s old building on Blumentritt Street about 12:40 p.m.
Kiok was not a patient at the hospital and police were still checking why he went there. The sixth floor, Anicete added, was where the hospital’s chapel was located.
On Saturday, a man also jumped to his death at the University of Santo Tomas hospital in Sampaloc.
Anicete said Ariel Alcober died about 5 p.m. He was a visitor of one of the hospital patients. It has not been established why he jumped, said Anicete.
