The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the number coding scheme will be lifted in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

“The numbering coding scheme is lifted in all cities and municipality in Metro Manila from March 24-25, 2016, in observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday,” the MMDA said in an advisory posted on its social media pages.

The MMDA previously announced that the number coding scheme would also be lifted for provincial buses on Holy Wednesday, March 23, due to the expected increase in passengers travelling to and from the provinces for the observance of the Holy Week.

“To ensure that there would be enough public utility buses (PUB) to serve passengers intending to observe the Holy Week in the provinces, it is necessary to temporarily lift the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program for all provincial buses on March 23, 2016,” said MMDA Chair Emerson Carlos.
