TAGUM CITY — A special investigation task group to look into the killing of a police major here was formed on Wednesday.
Insp. Anjanette Tirador, city police spokesperson, said they have yet to identify the suspects behind the murder of Chief Insp. Ger Igtanloc Jr.
The 38-year old former police chief of Maragusan town, Compostela Valley was shot repeatedly by two persons on a motorcycle at the corner of Mabini and Sobrecarey Streets, in Barangay Magugpo Poblacion here around 7 a.m., Tirador said. Igtanloc was on his way home to RJP Village in Barangay Magugpo East on his motorcycle after dropping his child off to school when he was attacked.
The suspects sped off to the direction of Brgy. San Miguel after the shooting, Tirador said.
According to investigators, the suspects tailed the victim as he was driving from Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School in Sobrecarey Street, and the backrider of the tailing TMX motorcycle without a plate number fired several times using a cal. 45 pistol at the victim who fell to the pavement.
“The assailants even drove closer to the fallen police official and fired at him again several times before speeding away,” said Chief Insp. Andrea dela Cerna, Southern Mindanao police spokesperson.
