At least 70 homes destroyed in Bacolod City fire
BACOLOD CITY –A fire of still unknown origin destroyed at least 70 houses in Purok Riverside, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, on March 1, the start of the Fire Prevention Month.
An elderly woman was reported hurt after she suffered burns on both hands and feet.
The number of families affected had yet to be determined as of 2:52 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Bacolod Bureau of Fire Protection was still investigating the cause of fire broke out at 8:18 a.m. and lasted for more than two hours.
Supt. Rodolfo Denaga, Bacolod fire marshal, said the fire started at the house of Lemuel Nobleza.
But firefighters had difficulty getting into the fire scene because the roads leading to the area were too narrow that the fire trucks could not enter.
