DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Police in Oman say a bus crash has killed at least 18 people and injured 14 others in the sultanate.

Police made the announcement in a tweet Tuesday morning. They said the crash occurred on the Ibri-Fahud Road, without elaborating. Fahud and Ibri are cities west of the capital, Muscat, though it wasn’t clear whether police meant the road linking the two cities.

A telephone number for an Oman police spokesman rang unanswered Tuesday.
