Over a hundred police personnel of chief inspector ranks from different units took oath as superintendents in a donning of ranks ceremony held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters on Monday.

PNP chief Director General Ricardo Marquez administered the promotion of 121 new superintendent officers after they passed the Police Superintendent Continuous Promotion Program. A total of 146 police personnel applied for the said promotion.

“Think of ourselves last. When we get promoted, much much more is expected from us,” Marquez said in a speech.

Fifty seven of the newly-promoted superintendents were assigned at National Support Units, Command Group and Directorial Staff based in Camp Crame.

In the said ceremony, the head of the 160,000-strong police force urged the newly-promoted officials, both men and women, of the PNP to set a good example to the people.

“Leaders, you and me, lead to walk the talk. When you say walk the talk, show them how to do these things; be there ahead of everybody; be on the ground; and lead the people. That’s the leadership demand these days,” Marquez said. RAM
