Senator Grace Poe thanked the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) on Monday for its trust and support for her presidential bid in the upcoming elections in May, saying it was an honor and a “challenge” to be backed by the country’s second biggest political party.
Poe and her running mate Sen. Francis Escudero were campaigning in Cagayan when the NPC officially proclaimed its support for the tandem.

“Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa tiwala at suportang ibinigay ng NPC,” the lady senator said.
(I am truly grateful for the trust and support given by NPC.)
“Bilang tumatakbong independent, naniniwala akong malaki ang maitutulong ng NPC hindi lamang sa pagsulong sa aking kandidatura, kundi higit sa lahat, sa pagtataguyod ng ‘Gobyernong may Pusong’ minimithi ng bawat Pilipinong napag-iwanan,” Poe added.
(As an independent candidate, I believe that NPC will be able to contribute significantly not only in pushing for my candidacy but more importantly in establishing “Gobyernong may Pusong (government with a heart)” aspired by every Filipino who was left behind.)

Her spokesman Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the endorsement would serve as an “inspiration” for her to intensify her campaign.
“Sen. Poe is extremely grateful to the NPC for endorsing her candidacy to become the country’s next President. She believes that together, she and the thousands of NPC members nationwide can propel the country to become more inclusive and help uplift the lives of our countrymen,” he said in a separate statement.
