It has been 30 years since the Edsa people power revolution but our fight is not yet over, according to Sen. Grace Poe.

Subalit hindi pa tapos ang ating pakikipaglaban,” Poe said in a statement on Wednesday as she joined the nation in commemorating the historic revolt that led to the ouster of a dictator.

Poe said much have yet to be done to free the country from poverty, lack of education, suppression of the people’s right to information, and human rights abuses.

Poe’s running mate, Sen. Francis Escudero, said the Edsa commemoration was a good occasion to “promote and uphold the beautiful lessons learned from it.”

According to Escudero, this is the time people remember with great humility “the nameless heroes and heroines of this shining chapter in our history.”

“So many events have unfolded since Feb. 25, 1986. So many have analyzed and interpreted this memorable part of our contemporary history. History is both beautiful and bizarre, if not ugly,” he said in a separate statement.

“Let us promote and uphold the beautiful lessons learned from it, notably the grassroots participation in governance and the people-center policies,” he added.

“Let us try to correct the bizarre components, error and mistake committed along the way of our long difficult and complicated quest to build a better, more compassionate, and more inclusive society and nation for all Filipino people.
