Duterte to Roxas: Why are you pointing at us?

“Why is he pointing to us?”

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte hit back at his rival and Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, saying that even though Roxas was a former interior secretary, he has done nothing to stop illegal drugs.

Duterte was responding to Roxas’ statements, claiming he knows where to buy illegal drugs in Davao City.

“May droga sa Davao ngayon. Ngayon lang, gusto mo samahan kita e, makakabili tayo ng droga sa Davao e,” Roxas told reporters after the presidential debates in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.

Roxas also said Davao City has the fourth highest incidence of crime in the country.

Duterte slammed Roxas for his statements.

“DILG siya. Under niya ang police. Supervise lang kami. We do not control the hearts and minds of the (police),” Duterte told reporters in an ambush interview in Pasay City on Wednesday.

“Bakit siya naging DILG tapos ‘di pala marunong?” the tough-talking mayor added.

Roxas served as the interior secretary during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III. He, however, resigned from his post to run for the highest elective post in the country.
