DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — The decomposing body of a bank messenger, who doubled as a habal-habal driver after his duty, was found near a lodging house in Barangay Aplaya here on Monday.

Supt. April Mark Young, the city police chief, identified the victim as Robert Sabado, 34, a resident of Sitio Nangkaan in Barangay Kiagot here.

Young said the victim’s body – which was covered with coconut leaves – was discovered when a child playing near it complained of foul odor.

Young said the body bore multiple stab wounds.

Andres Sabado, the victim’s elder brother, said Robert was last seen at his house on Saturday evening.

“After that, he vanished. We were informed that his body was found (Monday) morning,” Andres said.

Andres said aside from working as utility worker for the local branch of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Robert also doubled as a habal-habal driver, using his newly acquired SYM motorcycle.

Young said investigators had established that Robert’s SYM motorcycle and his cellphone were missing.

“We are still working on it to determine if this is a case of simple homicide or a (motorcycle theft) gone bad,” he said.  SFM
