Radio reporter in Zamboanga del Sur shot dead

DAVAO CITY – A radio broadcaster in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur was shot to death around 8 p.m. Tuesday, the National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP) said.

The NUJP, in a media alert, said Elvis Ordaniza, who was in his 50s, suffered two bullet wounds in his chest from a cal. 45 handgun, according to a police report on the incident.

He was shot while inside his residence, the police added.

Ordaniza, a rebel returnee, was a reporter for radio station dxWO Power99 FM based in Pitogo town.

NUJP said according to colleagues, Ordaniza has been reporting about the problem of illegal drugs and illegal gambling in the town.
