Is Chiz Escudero slighted by Kris Aquino’s support for Robredo?

PANGASINAN, Philippines—Saying he was not the “jealous” type, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero said he respects the decision of TV host Kris Aquino, who reportedly chose to support his rival in the vice presidential race.
Aquino earlier shared a photo of her and her sons Joshua Aquino and Bimby Aquino Yap with vice presidential bet, Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo, with the caption: “Brave… Simple… Trustworthy… HONEST.”

Prior to marrying actress Heart Evangelista, Escudero was rumored to be romantically linked with Aquino.
Asked during a press conference here on Friday about Aquino’s support for Robredo as well as Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto’s support for another vice presidential bet, Senator Gringo Honasan, Escudero said: “Ipinanganak akong hindi selosong tao. Secure ako sa kinatatayuan ko, hindi man ako kampante, secure ako sa kinakatayuan ko.”
(I wasn’t born the jealous type. I am secure where I stand. I am not confident, but I am secure.)
“Ginagalang ko palagi at gagalangin ko palagi anumang opinyon, pananaw ng sinuman. Malapit man o malayo, kakilala ko man o hindi, kaugnay ng darating na halalan. Dahil ang eleksyon once every three years lang ‘yan. Minsan once every six years pa. Hindi dapat maging dahilan ang iisang bagay para pigilan at tuldukan anumang relasyon, pinagsamahan at pagkakaibigan ko sa ibang tao ng dahil lamang sa halalan.”
(I always respect and will always respect whatever another person’s opinion or view is. Whether I am close to them or not, whether I know them or not, I will respect their views on the election. The election happens once every three years. Sometimes, every six years. The elections would never end my relationship or friendship with other people.)
“Sa totoo lang, sa dinamidami ng eleksyong pinagdaanan ko, marami akong naging kaibigan dahil sa eleksyon pero wala pa akong nawalang kaibigan dahil sa eleksyon,” Escudero added.
(The truth is, in the many elections I have participated in, I only gained and never lost friends.)
Sotto is part of the senatorial ticket of the Partido Galing at Puso of Senators Grace Poe and Escudero, but has openly expressed his support for Honasan, running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay. IDL
