On Feb. 12, 1997, Las Piñas was declared a highly urbanized city through the signing of Republic Act No. 8251. As of May 2010, the City of Las Piñas has a population of more than 552,000 based on the 2010 Census. It has a land area of 32.69 sq. km. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
