A total of 835 violators have been nabbed so far for violating the election gun ban, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.
In a statement, SPO2 Eric Fernandez of the Public Information Office said 660 firearms have been confiscated as of February 11, or two days after day the campaign period for the May national elections kicked off.

The PNP said 800 out of the 835 violators were civilians, 7 policemen, 11 security guards, 5 from other law enforcement agencies, and two from the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit.

Confiscated deadly weapons, meanwhile, totaled to 4,999—23 firearms replica, 238 bladed or pointed weapons, 31 grenades, 7 other explosives, and 4,700 assorted ammunition.
The gun ban was in compliance with Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) Resolution No. 10015, which prohibits anyone except the military and the police from bearing, carrying, and transporting firearms and other deadly weapons. IDL
