Bomb planted at Cotabato City police station defused – police
COTABATO CITY — Military and police bomb experts deactivated an improvised bomb planted close to the Police Station 1 here on Wednesday evening.
Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, the city police director, said the improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered by passersby along Don Roman Vilo Street at past 8 p.m.
“It was disrupted by bomb experts and nobody was hurt,” Supiter said of the explosive.
The IED was assembled from black powder, battery, a triggering device with blinker and cut concrete nails serving as shrapnel, and was placed in a plastic “sando-bag.”
“Passersby noticed something blinking so they alerted the police,” he added.
The bombing attempt came a day after joint Army and police arrested Hasan Indal, a ranking official of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Barangay Kalanganan Mother.
Supiter could not say yet if the bombing attempt was related to Indal’s arrest. SFM
