Only Duterte can stop criminals, says Cayetano

Vice presidential aspirant Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano believes that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is the only presidential candidate who can stop crime and corruption in the country.

“Kaya bang itigil ang korapsyon ng isang corrupt?” Cayetano said during his proclamation speech in Tondo, Manila, Tuesday night.

The senator was referring to Vice President Jejomar Binay, the standard bearer of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), who faces a string of corruption allegations, including the allegedly overpriced Makati Building Parking II.

“Sa bawat binibigay sa tao, mas malaki ang nilalagay sa bulsa. Paano niya (Binay) ititigil?” Cayetano said.

For Sen. Grace Poe, Cayetano said she could not have the will to stop corruption being a neophyte politician.

“Kapag sinabi ni Grace Poe na itigil ang corruption, bago pa lang siya e. Di naman siya nakatikim na humawak ng malaking pera. Ngayon pa lang pinaikutan na ng ibang pulitiko. Yun pa kaya pag naging presidente?” he said.

He said that even with the “straight path” governance of the Aquino administration, where presidential aspirant Manuel “Mar” Roxas II was a cabinet official, corruption did not stop.

But if Duterte would say “stop corruption,” even those not corrupt would be alarmed, Cayetano said. “Baka pagbintangan e,” he added.

As to ending criminality, he said only Duterte could stop crime immediately with his “shoot to kill” order against criminals.

While Poe, Binay and Roxas would simply order a stop to crime, Cayetano said Duterte would kill criminals.
