Binay chooses Mandaluyong to be with the urban poor
Vice President Jejomar Binay has opted to hold his proclamation rally in Mandaluyong City to be with the urban poor, according to his spokesperson.
In an ambush interview at the sidelines of Binay’s proclamation rally at Welfareville compound on Tuesday, Rico Quicho said Binay’s choice of venue did not mean Makati City was no longer his bailiwick.
“Hindi naman pili ang Mandaluyong dahil balwarte. Dito uumpisahan ang liberation ng ating kababayan mula sa kahirapan, not because malakas tayo dito, not because hindi tayo kumportable sa ibang lugar,” Quicho said.
“Dito sumasalamin sa hirap na kumakatawan sa pang-araw araw na buhay ng ating kababayan,” he added.
Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos is an ally of Binay.
Binay’s son Junjun was dismissed as Makati mayor as he faced graft charges for allegedly rigging the procurement for the design and construction of the P2.2 billion Makati carpark building. RC
