UBAY, Bohol—Two detainees were recaptured last Tuesday morning, a few hours after they escaped from their detention cell here.
The police collared Jonar Cutamora around 8 a.m. while Alberto Pino was nabbed around 9 p.m.
Both were facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They escaped from the Ubay police station by cutting the metal bars last Monday night.
“The steel saw used by the inmates was provided by persons who visited them a few days earlier,” said PO3 Larcin Ian Yuag of the Ubay police station.
Pino, 29, a resident of Barangay (village) Fatima in this town, and Cutamora, 25, a resident of Barangay Soom in Trinidad town, were discovered to be missing from the cell last Monday evening.
A manhunt operation was conducted afterward.
According to Yuag, they traced the persons who visited Cutamora and zeroed in on his girlfriend who eventually cooperated.
Cutamora sent a text message to his girlfriend informing her of his escape. Likewise, he sent a text message to his friend who he needed money.
From then, police tracked down Cutamora until they captured him.
“He didn’t resist when he was captured,” said Yuag.
Pino was captured when concerned citizens tipped off the police about the presence of a man in Barangay Fatima, Ubay who wanted to seek shelter in their house.
When Pino noticed the presence of policemen, he tried to escape but stopped when a bullet grazed his left thigh. RAM
