GUTTENBERG, New Jersey — Authorities say an elevator repair worker from New York fell seven stories to his death down a shaft in New Jersey.

Hudson County prosecutors say police responded to a building at the Galaxy Towers condominium complex in Guttenberg around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the 44-year-old worker from New Windsor, New York, was performing monthly maintenance on one of the elevators when he somehow became entangled between the door and top portion of the elevator car and was dragged upward. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 8 a.m.
