2 more dead bodies recovered from fuel tanker in Samar

Two more dead bodies have been recovered from the fuel tanker that hit a nipa hut in Pinabacdao, Samar on Sunday, Inquirer Bandera reported.

The report said the number of casualties from the accident rose to 7, in addition to three residents, the driver of the tanker, and a certain Evangelyn Luchaves, who were previously recovered and identified by authorities.

Ricky Rubillos, officer-in-charge of the Pinabacdao Police, was quoted as saying that two bodies of female children were recovered behind the driver’s seat of the tanker.

The two were identified as 7-year old Apple Chan Luchaves and 4-year-old Luchaves, residents of Tabango, Leyte who were believed to be “hitchhikers” along with Evangelyn.

The two additional casualties were wearing an earring on their left ear, the report said.

The driver of the tanker was previously identified as Romeo Oquien, while the residents of the nipa hut were identified as Michael and Maryjoy Buenavides and their 6-month-old child Angela.

Witnesses previously said the tanker was speeding when it lost its brakes and hit the Buenavides residence and adjacent houses. YG with reports from John Roson, Inquirer Bandera
