Aside from “actively” and “directly” participating in the Mamasapano incident, President Benigno Aquino III also allegedly “deliberately hid and was hiding” behind his friend, and then suspended Police Chief Alan Purisima, “to shield himself from any responsibility and accountability for the debacle,” Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile said on Wednesday.

This was among the eight issues that Enrile laid down against the president immediately after the Senate reopened its investigation on the incident that left 44 Special Action Force (SAF) men dead last January 25, 2015.

The eight issues were the following:

It was Enrile, who initiated the reopening of the investigation by the Senate committees on peace and order; peace, unification, and reconciliation; and finance.

The senator was in hospital detention over plunder charges when the Senate conducted its hearings on the incident last year. RAM
