Judges to work on poll day–SC
THE SUPREME Court has ordered executive judges, judges of single-branch courts and clerks of court to report for duty on May 9, Election Day, to resolve election-related cases.
“In the interest of the efficient administration of justice and to ensure the speedy disposition of election-related cases, you are directed to report to your courts on May 9 to act on all election matters within your jurisdiction and to resolve the same with utmost caution and dispatch,” said a circular issued by Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez.
The circular was addressed to executive judges and clerks of court in the regional trial courts (RTC), metropolitan trial courts (MeTC) and municipal trial courts in cities (MTCC).
Also covered were judges and clerks of court of the single-branch RTCs, MeTCs, MTCCs, municipal trial courts and municipal circuit trial courts.
In case the executive judge would not be able to report for duty, he or she may designate the vice executive judge or any of the judges in the station, Marquez said. Jerome Aning
