Wife of Lipa jail inmate nabbed for hiding shabu in privates

BATANGAS CITY – A 46-year-old wife of an inmate was arrested when a jail officer discovered she was hiding shabu in her genitals when she entered the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Lipa City to visit her husband on Thursday afternoon, police said Friday.

Senior Superintendent Arcadio Ronquillo, Batangas police director, said the suspect, Lanie Agojo, 46, was being search by a female officer, Jail Officer 1 Cleo Magdalene Limbo, when Agojo was found hiding three sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), totaling 9.7 grams, that were placed inside a condom and inserted into her vagina.

Ronquillo said that Agojo was visiting her husband at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday and as a part of the visiting procedures, she underwent body search.

But Ronquillo said the jail guards were particularly stricter during this inspection as they were already suspecting that Agujo was bringing drugs inside the jail.

Lanie’s husband, Ariel, was arrested by the Lipa police on January 4, 2016 also for possession of illegal drugs, said Ronquillo.

Limbo immediately reported the drug discovery to the Lipa City police and the jail guard, along with the responding policemen, brought Agojo to the Lipa City police station at about 5:50 p.m. on Thursday.

Ronquillo said Agojo was now detained at the police station’s lock-up cell and would be charged with possession of illegal drug. CDG
