Teacher killed, 10 hurt in Benguet crash

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines–A teacher was killed and 10 others were injured when an elf truck lost control and turned turtle at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Kibungan town in Benguet province, police said.

The truck was ferrying the delegation of the Palina Elementary School to the scout jamboree in Bakun, Benguet.

The accident killed Julieta Danio, 55, and injured eight elementary pupils: Kenneth Eslao, 12; Jayther Eslao, 11; Penny Binbinen, 13; Jorvin Acosta, 13; Clifford Bolislis, 13; Justin Sacpa, 9; Ruben Roach, 9, and Ruel Martin, 10.

The principal Daniel Pascaden, 56 and another teacher Dominga Liwayan were among the injured, who are being treated at the Benguet General Hospital.

The driver surrendered to the police. TVJ
