4,542 passengers stranded in Philippine ports

MANILA, Philippines—A total of 4,542 passengers have been stranded in ports all over the country as of Thursday morning due to Tropical Depression Ramon, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The report said that the majority of the stranded passengers were in the Manila South Harbor with 1,473 passengers and two vessels stranded. In the Manila North Harbor, 190 passengers and one vessel were stranded.

The Batangas Coast Guard Station reported that 1,014 passengers, 273 rolling cargoes and 10 vessel were stranded in the port of Batangas.

Calapan Coast Guard station reported 639 passengers and 56 rolling cargoes were stranded in Calapan port.

According to Caticlan Coast Guard Station, 513 passengers were stranded in Boracay port, while 260 passengers were stranded in Caticlan with 20 motorized boats taking shelter. Meanwhile, six passengers and one motorized boat were stranded in Banica port in Roxas City.

Lucena Coast Guard Station reported that 195 passengers, 21 rolling cargoes and seven vessels were stranded in the port of Lucena City.

The Bacolod Coast Guard Station reported that 96 passenger and 48 trucks were stranded in Bredco port and 24 passengers and 12 trucks in Escalante port.

Coast Guard station Mamburao reported that 87 passengers, 10 rolling cargoes and three motorized boats were stranded.

Coast Guard Station Roxas said 40 passengers were stranded in San Carlos port while five passengers and one motorized boat were stranded in Roxas port. One other motorized boat was taking shelter in the said port.

Romblon Coast Guard Station reported that there were no stranded passenger but three rolling cargoes, two vessels and three motorized boats were stranded.

Tropical depression Ramon is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday morning or evening, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
