LTFRB to rule on P10 taxi fare rollback

The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to rule on making permanent the provisional P10 rollback in the flag-down rate for taxis which it implemented in March last year.

In an interview which aired on Radyo Inquirer on Monday, LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez said their decision would be released within this month.

“Meron na pong submitted na petitions for fare rollback. Dito sa taxi, ang hiling po ay gawing permanente yung ginawang rollback natin noong March 2015 na P10 sa flag-down rate po natin. At handa na naming itong pagdesisyunan. Submitted na po for decision,” Ginez said.

Aside from the fare rollback, the board will also rule on petitions seeking increased waiting time for taxis.

“Lahat ng ito ay hopefully mapagdesisyunan na namin ngayong buwan, by January 2016,” the LTFRB chair said.

Meanwhile, Ginez also hinted a possible fare rollback for jeepneys.

However, the fare cut would reflect on the rate per kilometer and not in the minimum fare.

The ruling on the fare cut for jeepneys is set to be issued in February.

“Sa jeep naman, may naka-set pa kaming pagdinig sa first week ng February. And hopefully after that, ay ready na kaming pagdesisyunan ang fare rollback sa mga jeepney,” he said.
