The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has heightened its security alert following the deadly attack in Jakarta.
“AFP is now elevating alert levels to heightened alert in all areas to ensure a state of readiness should there be a need for it in case of certain contingencies,” military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said on Thursday.
He clarified, however, that there was no specific monitored threat at this time.
In a joint statement by the AFP and the Philippine National Police, they asked the public to be more vigilant in the wake of the bombings in Indonesia.
“We appeal to the public to be extra vigilant and to help our security forces address the threat,” the statement said.

“Our security forces are well aware of the emerging threat and have been conducting operations to prevent terror acts anywhere in the country,” it added.
At least seven were killed from attacks in Jakarta, Indonesia on Thursday.
The attacks started at a Starbucks shop downtown where three suicide bombers blew themselves up.
Reports said at least three other explosions transpired in Indonesia’s capital following more than two hours of gunbattles. RC
