COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said that she will be moving forward from her word war with Chairman Andres Bautista.
Echoing the earlier statement of the full commission, Guanzon said that she has decided to do what is best for the country.
“What is important now is what’s good for the country and the Comelec. We should just move forward from here,” Guanzon told reporters in an interview.
At a press briefing, Commissioner Arthur Lim assured Filipinos that the poll body will put the controversial word war among election officials behind them.
“In the past few days, you have been witness to certain issues or controversy that involved the commission particularly our good chairman and good commissioner Guanzon. But that is to be expected in the light of any collegial body. The important thing is that we are able to address the issues and we have now decided to move forward and to leave all these controversies behind us. All is well that ends well,” Lim said.
The word war between the Guanzon and Bautista started when the former filed a supposed unauthorized comment at the Supreme Court on the disqualification cases against Senator Grace Poe last January 5.
However, Bautista asked Guanzon to explain under whose authority she filed the comment. The commissioner retaliated by saying that she has the authority to do so.
She even alleged that Bautista is biased for Poe.
