Pangasinan cop shot dead

DAGUPAN CITY—An Infanta town policeman was shot dead on Monday in Pangasinan province, police said on Tuesday.

PO3 Steve Lacap was discovered lying beside his motorcycle on a village road in Sitio Nambalan, Barangay Cato, at about 7:31 p.m.

Lacap was taken to the town’s rural health unit where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

Investigators said Lacap was on his way to his farm when he was attacked. Police are looking for suspects.

Lacap was killed barely a day after the Commission on Elections enforced a gun ban with the start of the election period on Jan. 10.

On Saturday, police named Infanta in its election watch list, which includes the towns of Urbiztondo, Bani and Bolinao and the cities of Dagupan and San Carlos.
