Bidding for new Naia 1 flooring set

THE MANILA International Airport Authority (MIAA) has set for Jan. 22 the bidding for the P17-million repair of the marble floor at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 1.

While the first phase of the Terminal 1 rehabilitation was completed by DM Consunji Inc. last year, the marble floor was only buffed to its original shine and was otherwise left untouched.

Terminal manager Dante Basanta said the marble floor was not part of the building’s P1.3-billion makeover which included structural fortification and retrofitting, aesthetic improvements and upgrade of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.

“This project entails the replacement of damaged floor tiles at the arrival and departure areas,” Basanta said.
