Media told to take cue from Pope
MALACAÑANG is wishing that the local media take its cue from Pope Francis’ New Year’s exhortation to news scribes to cover the good news.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said reflecting on the Pope’s words was timely considering that it has been nearly a year since Pope Francis visited the Philippines and the country would again host the International Eucharistic Congress in Cebu, 79 years after hosting the event in Manila.
“This is an opportune time for all of us to reflect on Pope Francis’ message to the media during the holiday season—that while we live in a time of much suffering, there are also ‘so many great gestures of goodness’ to help those in need that do not necessarily get coverage, and that these must not be ‘obscured by the arrogance of evil,’” Lacierda said in a statement.
