CEBU CITY—Two warehouses containing cars, motorcycles, bicycles and furniture on Arellano St., Barangay (village) San Roque, Cebu City were hit by fire past 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Chief Inspector Rogelio Bongabong, Cebu City Fire Marshall, said the fire broke out at 1:05 pm on Saturday, affecting the two warehouses owned by the Madrigal family.
Barangay officials said the warehouses were owned by the family of former Senator Jamby Madrigal but this could not be confirmed.
The warehouses were rented by EMBL Enterprises and DU Ek Sam Inc., said Bongabong.
He said no one was inside the warehouses when the fire broke out. Security guards noticed the smoke coming out from the warehouse rented by EMBL Enterprises, destroying the furniture inside.
The fire spread to the other warehouse rented by Du Ek Sam, damaging undetermined number of motorcycles and bicycles. There were three cars inside the Du Ek Sam warehouse but according to another fireman, only the Honda CRV was damaged.
Bongabong said the cause of the fire was still being determined.
