CALOOCAN CITY—Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila, installed Bishop Pablo Virgilio David as new bishop of the Diocese of Kalookan, at the San Roque Cathedral here on Saturday.

The Apostolic Nuncio, Rev. Guiseppe Pinto, was tasked by Pope Francis to read the Pontiff’s letter assigning David to the new post after the retirement of Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez Jr. in 2013.

The diocese covers the cities of Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas.

David, 56, served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga and parish priest of the Holy Rosary Parish in Angeles City, declared as a National Cultural Treasure last December.

“Ang pangalan ko ho Bishop Ambo,” was how he greeted his new parishioners who welcomed him in several contingents along the route to the San Roque Cathedral. RAM

(My name is Bishop Ambo.)
