Father sues own son for daughter’s death

CITY OF MALOLOS—The father of nine-year-old Lorena Cruz, who was earlier reported as a stray bullet victim, has sued his son for accidentally shooting and killing his sister in Norzagaray, Bulacan, on Christmas Eve.

Police first reported that Cruz was killed by a stray bullet until her brother, Joel, admitted that she was killed by his own gun.

He said he accidentally killed his sister when his modified air gun, which was loaded with a .22-caliber pistol bullet, went off when it fell from where it was hung in their house.

Cruz was hit in the back and died at the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City the following day.
