Tricycle driver run over by truck in Albay dies

LEGAZPI CITY—A motorcycle driver died after being run over by a truck following a multiple-vehicle collision in Daraga, Albay on Wednesday morning, police said.

police, said the fatality, Jimmy Ortega, 56, of Camalig town, was run over by an Isuzu Forward truck (TOW 316) along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Busay around 9 a.m.
He said the truck loaded with sand and gravel, driven by Ricardo Nabesa

of Ligao City, lost its brake and triggered the multiple collision.
Mabini said the wayward truck hit a tricycle, which in turn rammed into a

passenger utility jeep (PUJ).

The PUJ also went out of control and hit another tricycle, driven by Ortega.
He said Ortega’s tricycle was dragged by the PUJ by about 200 meters

before he was thrown out of his vehicle and was run over by the same truck that triggered the multiple collision.
Ortega died on the spot, Mabini said.

The driver of the first motorcycle hit by truck was also injured and

was brought to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital, also in Daraga, for treatment, he said.
Mabini said Nabesa, the  truck driver, is now in custody of the Daraga

police and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to properties and homicide. RAM
