Laguna priest apologizes for hoverboard incident

The priest in Laguna who was caught on video using a hoverboard during a mass has apologized, the Diocese of San Pablo said on Tuesday.

“He would like to apologize for what happened,” the diocese said in a statement posted on Facebook.
The name of the priest was not identified.
“The priest said that it was a wake up call for him; he acknowledged that his action was not right and promised that it will not happen again,” it added.

The diocese was not happy with the incident.
“That was wrong,” it said.
“The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence. It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice. It is the source and summit of Christian life. It is the Church’s highest form of worship. Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people,” it added.
The diocese said the incident happened Thursday on Christmas Eve. FM/RAM
