MANILA, Philippines — A Caloocan cop will spend his New Year in the city detention cell after pointing a gun at his team leader on Christmas eve at their precinct in Sta. Queteria, Tullyahan Road in Caloocan City, according to the police.
PO1 Gregorio Rollan, Jr., 33, who has been slapped with charges of grave threat and unjust vexation and administrative charges for grave misconduct, would have to wait for the resumption of court hearings before he can post bail estimated at P14,000, SPO2 Joel Montebon said. Rollan is currently relieved from his post in community precint 7.
Chief Inspector Avelino Protacio, the precinct station chief, said a drunk Rollan had a verbal argument with his superior, SPO2 Edilberto Safuentes, 47, who had called his attention and scolded him for drinking with a man named Carlos Cia in front of the precinct.
Safuentes, in his affidavit, told Rollan to keep the bottles of Red Horse away but the latter ignored him, saying there would be no inspection anyway, and that he was in charge. Unfazed, Safuentes asserted his authority as a team leader but Rollan told him: “Eh ano kung team leader ka, walang team leader sa akin (So what if you’re a team leader? There’s no team leader for me).
A verbal feud happened, with Rollan following Safuentes in his office and threatening to shoot Safuentes with his .9mm Glock pistol.
Rollan, however, was later subdued and apprehended by Safuentes and was brought to the Caloocan City Investigation Unit for investigation and detention.
Montebon said witnesses told cops that Rollan usually became unruly every time he was drunk. SFM
