THE LAND Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has grounded 10 buses belonging to Palma Bus Corp. after one of these figured in an accident in Quezon province on Monday, leaving 55 passengers injured.

Eduardo Palma, the bus operator, was ordered to surrender the vehicles’ license plates to the LTFRB legal division on Tuesday, according to the order issued on Wednesday.

The 30-day preventive suspension order was signed by LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez and board members Ariel Inton and Ronaldo Corpus after the bus was involved in an accident on Dec. 21.

The LTFRB asked Palma to explain in writing within three days why his franchise should not be revoked. The case will be heard on Jan. 13. Erika Sauler
