Woman shot dead while driving SUV in San Juan
A 63-YEAR-OLD woman died while her companion was wounded after they were attacked by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in San Juan City on Christmas Eve.
A statement issued to reporters by the Eastern Police District (EPD) said that Susan Tan Uy, a resident of Mariposa Street in Quezon City, was declared dead on arrival at Cardinal Santos Medical Center due to a lone gunshot wound in the head. The shooting occurred as she was driving her sport utility vehicle on Wilson Street corner Ortigas Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
PO2 Catherine Capinpin, EPD assistant spokesperson, said Uy’s passenger—who was not identified by the police at her request—also had to be rushed to the hospital after splinters from the broken windshield hit her hand. She was discharged after treatment.
According to Capinpin, the suspects, who fled toward Edsa, did not appear to have gotten anything from the victims. “The motive is still under investigation,” she said.
Capinpin said that Uy and her husband had been separated for 20 years.
