DZIQ: Delas Alas family leaves it up to the govt to act on Leviste’s case

MANILA, Philippines—The family of Rafael Delas Alas will leave it up to the government to determine the liability of prison officials who allowed former Batangas governor Antonio Leviste to go in and out of prison without permission.

“We will no longer file any complaint. We leave it up to the government to do what is right,” Dina Delas Alas, daughter of Rafael said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer’s Tapatan with Jay Sonza and Den Macaranas.

She said since last year, they already heard rumors about Leviste’s ‘privilege.’ In fact, she said they were informed that Leviste was spotted last year in Tagaytay.

But she said “there is no need for us to make a noise because some are already other people doing it for us.”

Delas Alas thanked the media for reporting the incident that led to the capture of Leviste who was serving 6-12 years imprisonment for the death of his aide and long-time friend Rafael Delas Alas.

After he was slapped with another case for evasion of service of sentence, Leviste was transferred back to the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) where his living out privileges has been cancelled.

Meanwhile, a report from Radyo Inquirer confirmed that Leviste is back at his hut

located near the forest lake of NBP compound.
