Classes are suspended in the following areas:

All levels

Pre-school to grade school

Pre-school to high school

Pre-school only

The Department of Education previously released guidelines for class suspensions.

Under the guidelines, classes in pre-school are automatically suspended in areas under Storm Signal No. 1, while classes in kindergarten, elementary and high school levels are automatically suspended in areas under Storm Signal No. 2.

Under Storm Signal No. 3, all classes in kindergarten, elementary, high school, college and graduate school levels are suspended.

But DepEd added that the local government unit has the authority to declare class suspensions in their respective areas even when there is no storm signal.

The weather bureau on Thursday morning said “Nona” has weakened but still expected to bring moderate to heavy rains in northern and central Luzon, as Signal No. 1 is still raised over Pangasinan and Zambales.
