A panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) recommended for confirmation on Wednesday the ad interim appointment of Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Alicia Dela Rosa-Bala.

No member of the CA’s committee on constitutional commissions and offices objected when a motion to recommend Dela Rosa-Basa was put on the table.

Dela Rosa-Bala’s term will expire on February 2, 2022.

The committee’s recommendation will be transmitted to the CA plenary for either adoption or rejection.

During her confirmation hearing at the committee, Dela Rosa-Basa vowed to push and protect the rights of public workers and give them an opportunity to become professional.

“Promotion should be based on merits,” she said.

Meanwhile, the committee deferred the consideration of nomination of CSC Commissioner Nieves Osorio to give way to the request of Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Fariñas who wanted to ask questions to the nominee.

However, the committee was told that Fariñas could not attend the hearing because he was observing the 30th day of his son’s death. RAM
