THE SECRETARY General of the House of Representatives lost over P500,000 worth of cash and valuables in a burglary that hit her Quezon City residence on Monday.

Lawyer Marilyn Yap reported the loss of P130,000 in cash and several gadgets, designer bags, watches, perfumes and jewelry worth around P490,000—all taken from her daughter’s room and the guest room on the second floor of her house in Filinvest II, Barangay Silangan.

The break-in was discovered around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, said SPO2 John Rosales of the Quezon City police. Yap’s daughter slept in another room that night.

The burglar apparently sneaked in through a wide gap in the window grills, Rosales said. Ria Consuelo Mendoza
