The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has responded to the statement of Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas that the peace and order situation in the city was just a “myth.”
“For the information of everyone, out of the 18,119 crime volume of Davao City for 2014, only 6,548 (36%) is attributed to index crime, meaning crime against person and properties. The remaining 11,571 (64%) is attributed to non-index crimes. These are police-initiated operations that yielded positive results especially on anti-drugs/ special laws and city ordinances,” the DCPO said in a post on its official Facebook page on Friday.
The local police was reacting to Roxas’ statement downplaying peace and order in the city of his 2016 rival, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. In a presidential forum, the administration bet said Davao City has the fourth-highest number of crime incidents in the Philippines.

But contrary to Roxas’ claims, DCPO said their statistics prove that police officers are doing their job to beat the proliferation of crime in the city.
“It only shows that the Officers and men of Davao’s finest is doing its best to really curb-out criminality in the city. These are the true facts on this issue. Pls share,” DCPO said, trumpeting the awards and recognitions that they received in the past years.
Roxas also said crime should be solved through systematic means and not through violence, alluding to Duterte’s leadership style.
In response, Duterte said Roxas cannot handle stress, criticizing his performance during the and after the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda.
