ALOR SETAR, Malaysia — The 35-year old mother who allegedly killed her two sons by slitting their throats was charged with murder at a Sungai Petani Magistrate’s court here.
Housewife Saw Shok Kian (pic), 35, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the death of Tee Cong Shern, three, and Tee Cong Ming, five, between 10:00 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 3 p.m. on Dec. 1 at her home at No. 20, Lorong Wira Indah 11 in Taman Wira Indah, Sungai Petani.
Saw arrived at the court at about 8:45 a.m. in a long sleeved T-shirt and jeans.
She looked calm when the intrepreter read the charge to her in Mandarin before Magistrate Mohd Hadi Hakimi Harun. She nodded that she understood the charge.
State Legal Aid Bureau (Yayasan Biro Guaman Kedah) counsel Farahdina Che Bakar is assisting the accused.
Public Prosecutor Nur Anida Nasir requested for a new date for re-mention pending forensic, medical and chemist reports.
Mohd Hadi fixed Jan. 12 next year for the re-mention of the case and ordered Saw to be sent to Hospital Bahagia in Tanjung Rambutan for observation for 30 days.
Saw’s father, Weng Choon, 60, found the boys dead in a room located on the ground floor of the house at about 3:20 p.m. last Tuesday while she was in another room with her left wrists cut.
She allegedly used a vegetable knife to slit the throat of her two sons.
