LONGTIME rheumatic heart patient Purita Vega was on her way home to Quezon City after visiting a relative in Laguna province on Oct. 18 when she ended up in the hospital for mitral valve malfunction.

“It was her worst asthma attack; she was almost not breathing when she reached The Medical City where she underwent mitral valve replacement surgery,” Purita’s younger sister, Mer Facistol, said. The mitral valve helps control blood flow through the heart.

Purita stayed in the hospital until Nov. 17. Although not quite well, she left the facility as her medical bill had already reached P1.7 million.

Before she was released, however, she left with the hospital a promissory note and the title to a piece of property in Krus na Ligas, UP Diliman, Quezon City, as collateral.

To get the title back, they must pay the hospital the balance of P906,000, including professional fees.

“My sister is 61 years old and I am jobless. Please help us. We don’t want to lose our house,” said Facistol who can be reached at 0916-6513189.

For donations, Mer S. Faqcistol has a BDO (Anonas-Kamias branch) bank account with account #003980207743.
