Fire hits public market in Negros Oriental town
DUMAGUETE CITY—Fire hit a public market in Negros Oriental early Friday, burning down 76 stalls and destroying property worth about P11 million, authorities said.
No one was reported hurt in the fire which broke out about 12:30 a.m. from the store owned by a certain Cristina Siason in the public market of Dauin town and quickly spread to the other stalls, police said.
Only four stalls were spared from the fire.
Aside from the firetrucks from Dauin, firetrucks from Dumaguete City and the towns of Bacong and Zamboanguita, Fil-Chinese fire brigade responded to the fire alarm.
They put out the fire after two hours.
Police secured the fire scene to prevent any looting.
