Poe grateful to SET for upholding foundlings’ rights—spokesman

The Senate Electoral Tribunal’s (SET) decision to junk with finality the disqualification case against Senator Grace Poe was a “clear indication” that she is a natural-born Filipino, Poe’s spokesman said on Thursday.

“Sen. Poe is grateful to the SET members for continuing to uphold the rights of foundlings,” Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said in a text message to reporters.

“The denial of the MR (motion for reconsideration) of Mr. David is a clear indication that Sen. Poe is a natural born Filipino,” he said.

Gatchalian was referring to presidential wannabe Rizalito David, who filed the case at the SET that seeks to unseat Poe from the Senate.

“In the coming days, we hope and pray that the Comelec (Commission on Elections) does the same and upholds the rights of foundlings,” the spokesman added.

There are four other disqualification cases pending at the Comelec, this time seeking to disqualify Poe from running for president in the 2016 elections. RAM
