MANDAUE CITY, Cebu–An early morning fire on Tuesday hit a commercial establishment and two warehouses owned by the family of Board Member Thadeo Ouano in Barangay (village) Opao in Mandaue City, Cebu.

The fire, which broke out about 7 a.m., was the second to hit Mandaue in two days. At least 50 families were homeless when fire hit Barangay Paknaan in Mandaue on Sunday afternoon.

Tuesday’s fire damaged two warehouses and three offices built inside the Ouano compound located along the Ouano private road in Barangay Opao.

Among those damaged was an office space leased by Pizza Pedricos commissary that supplied the pizza for the Visayas and Mindanao areas.

The presence of firewall prevented the flame from burning nearby structures, said fire investigator Cifriano Codilla.

Fire trucks from neighboring city of Cebu and the town of Consolacion helped put out the fire.

Because of the fire, there was heavy congestion at the nearby old Mandaue Mactan bridge.

Codilla said they were still investigating cause of the fire which was believed to have been triggered by faulty electrical wiring.
